I Untangle Problems, Structure the Big Ambitions, and Get Things Done
My philosophy and style:
I love solving a problem. You see a problem; I see the opportunity to find the root cause and help you solve it. To do so, I believe that partnership and transparency are vital, that the hard issues need tackling, that everything can be done when broken into pieces and processes are repeatable, that training others allows you to scale, and that questions are the best ways to uncover those root causes. It's my 'secret sauce' and if that sounds like someone you'd want in the room, I'd love to hear from you.
My background:
As an exec in corporate technology, I was at the forefront of emerging tech and trends. I taught, trained, and scaled work while raising and defining risks to be debated based on data. I grew an AI, Enterprise platform with federated chatbots 150% in one year by moving to a more self-service model and improving transparency. I built a multi-year program to review policies and standards which saw over 100 policies and standards reviewed and over 60 related processes updated in its first year alone. I also trained a department of enterprise risk officers in IAM when it was still new and tough to convince of its necessity but had the eye of regulators.
In 2019, I was a featured speaker at the Executive Women's Forum in Phoenix.
Prior to my corporate life, I was an educator with ten years tutoring and five years teaching and building Spanish curricula. Teaching honed my ability to explain the hard things multiple ways and to tell when someone was nodding along despite not understanding. More recently I've built an Ed Tech platform—My Subject Help—which is an asynchronous tutoring platform where Knowledge Seekers can find the Subject Experts they need and both parties benefit.
Across all of that, I've written and designed. I've written two novels, two children's books, a handful of essays and poems (one in International Business Times), a Spanish-language quote book series for language learners, and a full album of songs. I run a small publishing imprint, Last Bite Publishing, whose children's books and merchandise donate proceeds to local animal rescues, and I help other creatives realize their visions. I've also designed floorpans, built two homes, and renovated a third.
